Raised timber walkways
Commenced: December 2012
Completed: September 2013
Contract: for Campaspe Shire Council
Design: Wright Barrat, Albury
Construction: Hunter Wharf and Barge Pty Ltd
HWB completed construction of the $1.2m raised timber walkways at the Port of Echuca.
These walkways connect the lower pathway under the wharf to the port site.
These pathways, together with the path under the wharf provide a universal access loop throughout the port site for visitors. They also provide outstanding viewing points along the river and showcase the extraordinary wharf structure.
The structure is comprised of red gum timber in keeping with the wharf and the Port buildings. The deck is red gum planks of varying width with vertical timber balusters on each side.
Design of the walkways was prepared by Wright Barrat, Albury and were approved by state heritage authorities and the project heritage advisor.
Hunter Wharf and Barge Pty Ltd were awarded the construction contract and Arbuthnot sawmills at Koondrook supplied the timber.
